This episode is related to "Where Silence Has Lease" from TNG Season 2

Captain Chen is contacted by the entity known as Nagilum. A life form that exists in open space, found by the Enterprise-D on stardate 42193.6 --the entity asks Chen for help, since it believes to be dying. A concept it learned from the encounter with the Enterprise D, and should not be happening to its kind.

Chen is very skeptical of this, having read the Enterprise-D mission reports, she knows Nagilum can create deceit very easily. However Nagilum mentions a word that she can not ignore: "Borg". When the Enteprise-D found Nagilum they had not yet found the Borg, so it couldn't have been pulled from their computers.

If what Nagilum says it's true, the Borg have found a way to assimilate it, and if they succeed there will be no stopping them. The Atalanta must find Nagilum and solve this mystery, or the Borg might end up being more powerful than they already are...

Notes: This is the first time we see Captain Chen's ready room on the Atalanta.
